Ask your guests questions
Add your own RSVP questions, like meal choices, song requests or phone numbers, and choose which groups are asked.
Updated
Besides yes or no, you can ask guests anything you need to know: a meal choice, a song request, a phone number for your entourage. You can add as many questions as you like, on every plan.
Add a question
- Open your Guest List, click More and choose Questions.
- In Manage questions, type your question, like "Any song requests?".
- Pick the kind of answer: Open Text, Email, Phone, Single Choice, Multiple Choice or Photo. For choices, add the options guests pick from.
- Turn on Required if guests must answer before they can submit.
- For text, email, phone and photo questions, you can add Hint Text to explain what you mean.
Ask for a photo
A Photo question lets guests take a selfie or pick a photo from their phone while they RSVP. It's handy for knowing who is who on the day.
Each photo also appears in Shared Moments, marked RSVP photo, once the guest sends their RSVP. Tap RSVP photos there to see only these, then select them and press Hide to keep them out of the gallery your guests see. You still see them, and they stay with the guest's answers on your Guest List.
If a guest sends a new photo or removes theirs, the old one is deleted. Deleting the question deletes every photo sent for it.
Once guests have answered a question, it cannot switch to or from Photo: that choice turns grey in the list. Add a new question instead.
Every new invitation starts with one question already added: Dietary Preference, asked of each guest.
Ask a follow-up question
Some questions only matter after a certain answer. Ask "Will you be bringing a car?", and only guests who say Yes are asked for their plate number.
- In Manage questions, add the follow-up below the question it depends on.
- Under Show only when…, pick the earlier question.
- For a choice question, tap the answers that should bring it up, like Yes. Leave it on Any answer to show it as soon as the earlier question is answered.
Guests only see the follow-up once their answer fits. A follow-up they never see is never required, even if it is set to Required. If a guest changes their answer so the follow-up hides again, what they typed in it is cleared.
A follow-up can't be moved above the question it depends on. If you delete that question, the follow-up stays and is always shown.
Choose who is asked
Each group can be asked different questions. Open a group from your Guest List and look for Questions to ask. For each question, pick:
- Off: this group isn't asked.
- Per Guest: every person in the group answers for themselves. You can then set each person to Required, Optional or Don't ask.
- Group: one shared answer for the whole group.
This is how you ask only some guests. For example, set a phone number question to Per Guest and Required for your entourage, and Off for everyone else.
The line at the top of Manage questions, like "130 guests will see 4 questions during RSVP", counts every guest who is asked at least one question and every question in use. It is a reminder to keep your RSVP short, not a limit.
See the answers
Answers show on your Guest List, under each group: shared answers for the group, and each person's own answers under their name. If a guest changes an answer, you can see what they said before.
Above your list, each choice question has a summary card that counts people, not replies. A family that answers once for the group counts as everyone in it who is coming, plus-ones included, so "Who needs a ride?" tells you how many seats to arrange. A guest who declined still shows their answer, marked not coming, and adds nobody. An answer you filled in for a guest who has not replied yet is marked no reply yet until they do.
To get every answer in a spreadsheet, click the arrow next to Add guest and choose Export. Each question gets its own column, ticked for you in Standard and Everything.
Frequently asked questions
How many questions can I add?
As many as you like, on every plan. Keep it to the ones you really need, so guests finish their RSVP.
I don't want to ask about dietary needs.
Delete Dietary Preference in Manage questions, or set it to Off for your groups under Questions to ask.
Can a question be required for some guests and optional for others?
Yes. Set the question to Per Guest for that group, then set each person to Required or Optional.
